Holi celebrations a hit

The weekend saw over 70 Nepali people, most from the Kathmandu Valley, come together at Lake Hood to celebrate their version of Holi.
It involved huge plates of local food, like Chiura (rice flakes) and different preparations of soya beans, as well as some dancing, singing, and of course the gulal (holi coloured powder).
The event was a “special chance” for families across the South Island to put down the tools and reunite, host Rohit Ranjit said.
