One dead in Allenton fire

Police have not yet released the name of a man who was found dead following an Ashburton house fire on Sunday.
An examination of the scene has been completed at the property on Glassey Drive in Allenton.
Police have said the circumstances surrounding the fire are non-suspicious.
Emergency services were informed about the fire at around 12.45am on Sunday.
Three fire trucks, a tanker and support vehicle from the Ashburton volunteer fire brigade were sent to the scene, with approximately 20 firefighters to man them all.
It took around an hour for emergency services to reach the scene and dampen the fire, according to Fire Emergency New Zealand communications.
The death has been referred to the coroner, and no other people have been mentioned by police.
Condolences to the family of the deceased have been steadily flowing in on the Ashburton Guardian Facebook page.
The name of the deceased has not been publicly released.
