Some freed, some fallen

Some freed, some fallen

Fates were sealed for some teams at last week’s Mid Canterbury Netball’s ACL Premier competition.

Brady’s Painting Allenton A went down a rung to Premiere 2, but beat Celtic Morrison Agri B in round two and now sit atop the prem 2 table.

They will play the next relegation game between ACL Premier 1 and 2. Their opponent won’t be revealed until the next round, where Methven Wareings and College B will battle it out.

Both are yet to win in the top grade in round two and were beat out in their most recent outings.

Hampstead Ray White A beat College 61-30, and Celtic Auric Electrical A outdid the Wareings 74-48.

Celtic Auric Electrical A sits in the golden sport at the top of prem 1, and looks most likely to play in the finals.

College A and Mt Somers Victory Lime A are the next in line, having played a match that saw Mt Somers win by a mere three points - 55-52.

One of Thursday’s biggest upsets of the night came in ACL Premier 2.

Methven EuroAgri showed Rakaia ProShear how it was done in their first comp win of the season, besides promotion/relegation wins between round 1 and 2.

The takedown of Rakaia means they’re out of the running for the next promotion/relegation game.

Hampstead Ray White B’s good form continued with a 36-34 win over Southern Canterbury Chiropractic.

The team to top the Premier 3 groups looks likely to be College Senior Reserve, who took a 34-11 win over Methven Shearmac on Thursday night.

Their winning strategy has paid off and means they’re unbeaten in their category.

The team that played in the season’s first promotion/relegation game – Rakaia Seed Cleaning – still has a shot at a second promotion/relegation game after beating United KFC A 26-23.

Hampstead Ray White U18 Development took a 49-25 win over Allenton B.

Methven Wareings and College B will open this week’s matches on court 1 this Thursday.

They’ll be followed by Hampstead Ray White A and College A, then Celtic Auric Electrical A and Mt Somers Victory Lime A.

In ACL Premier 2, Celtic Morrison Agri B need to beat Rakaia ProShear to avoid a promotion/relegation game, before Hampstead Ray White B play Methven EuroAgri, and Brady’s Painting Allenton A play Southern Canterbury Chiropractic.

ACL Premier 3 begins with United KFC A and Allenton B, before Rakaia Seed Cleaning play Methven Shearmac, and then College Senior Reserve look to seal their spot in promotion/relegation with a win against Hampstead Ray White U18 Development.

The promotion/relegation games will be played on Tuesday 8 July at 6.30pm, with the third and final championship round kicking off on Thursday 10 July.
